Common Emergencies & First Aid
Severe Toothache
Sudden, intense tooth pain that doesn't respond to over-the-counter pain relief.
First aid: Rinse with warm salt water. Take an anti-inflammatory. Avoid hot or cold foods. Call us.
Knocked-Out Tooth
A tooth completely displaced from its socket due to trauma.
First aid: Hold the tooth by the crown (not root). Place in milk or saliva. See us within 30 minutes for best results.
Broken or Chipped Tooth
A tooth that has fractured due to impact, biting on hard food, or weakened structure.
First aid: Rinse your mouth gently. Apply cold compress to reduce swelling. Save any fragments.
Lost Filling or Crown
A dental restoration that has come loose or fallen out.
First aid: Keep the crown safe. Apply temporary dental cement (available at pharmacies). Avoid chewing on that side.
Dental Abscess
A painful infection at the root of a tooth or between the gum and tooth.
First aid: Rinse with mild salt water. Do not pop or squeeze. Seek care urgently. Infections can spread.
Jaw Injury
Pain, swelling, or difficulty moving the jaw after trauma.
First aid: Apply cold compress. Stabilize the jaw. If you suspect a fracture, go to the nearest hospital or call us.
